It was recently reported that SanrioTown, a social networking community aimed toward young fans of Hello Kitty and other Sanrio characters, was subject to a hack that caused over three million users’ to have their personal information compromised. Keller Rohrback is investigating recent reports that Hello Barbie, a product of Mattel, Inc., violated children’s privacy by storing conversations between the Hello Barbie doll and child on a hackable cloud. Of particular concern is the potentiality that the doll could be hacked by a predator who could talk directly with a child through the doll.
The lawsuits recently filed against Volkswagen were consolidated on December 8th and transferred to the Northern District of California, which is in San Francisco.
