Keller Rohrback's Summer Associate Program provides law students with meaningful, hands-on experience in plaintiffs' complex litigation. Summer associates work as part of active litigation teams, contributing to significant cases while receiving mentorship, training, and regular feedback from experienced attorneys.
Keller Rohrback is accepting applications for its 2027 Summer Associate Program in Seattle, Washington. We expect to hire:
• Second-year law students through our 2L Summer Associate Program.
• One first-year law student through our 1L Diversity Fellowship.
• Additional first-year law students through our general 1L Summer Associate Program.
We seek candidates with excellent academic credentials, strong research and writing skills, sound judgment, demonstrated leadership, and a serious interest in plaintiffs’ complex litigation. Successful candidates will be intellectually curious, collaborative, and prepared to take responsibility for substantive work on significant cases.
Summer associates are integrated into active litigation teams and work alongside partners and associates on substantive projects that contribute directly to ongoing cases.
Assignments may include:
• Researching novel legal and factual issues.
• Drafting motions, briefs, discovery requests, and other litigation materials.
• Analyzing documents, expert materials, and evidentiary records.
• Assisting with depositions, hearings, mediations, and trial preparation.
• Participating in case-strategy discussions and team meetings.
Each summer associate is paired with a supervising attorney and an associate mentor who provide guidance, regular feedback, and professional development support.
Keller Rohrback’s Complex Litigation Group is a nationally recognized plaintiffs’ practice that prosecutes high-stakes civil litigation on behalf of individuals, classes, public entities, and institutional clients.
Our class action and multi-district practice includes consumer-protection, antitrust, ERISA, environmental, public-health, data-privacy, and product-liability litigation. We pursue sophisticated cases designed to hold corporations accountable, compensate those harmed by misconduct, and achieve meaningful real-world change.
The 2L Summer Associate Program is one pathway to a full-time associate position with Keller Rohrback after graduation.
We expect to hire a small and highly selective 2L summer class. Some members of the class will be returning participants in Keller Rohrback’s 1L Summer Associate Program, and at least one position will be available to a 2L student who is new to the firm.
The 2L program requires a commitment of ten to twelve weeks. Start and end dates are flexible. Compensation is $2,300 per week.
At the end of the summer, 2L Summer Associates may receive offers to join Keller Rohrback as associates. Offer decisions are based on the quality of a summer associate’s work, judgment, professionalism, collaboration, and fit with the firm’s practice and values. Keller Rohrback strongly encourages both summer associates and current associates to pursue judicial clerkships after graduation or after joining the firm.
Application Schedule
• Application deadline: August 21, 2026.
• Decisions communicated by: September 8, 2026.
Keller Rohrback’s 1L Diversity Fellowship is designed to expand access to meaningful experience in plaintiffs’ complex litigation and to support the development of a more diverse and inclusive legal profession.
In addition to Fellowship-specific mentorship and networking opportunities, the Fellow will participate fully in the Summer Associate Program, including substantive case assignments, training, mentoring, feedback, and firm programming.
Students who are attending Washington State law schools and come from backgrounds traditionally underrepresented in the legal profession are encouraged to apply. We seek candidates who have made outstanding contributions to their law school or community and who have demonstrated leadership and a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
The 1L Diversity Fellowship program requires a commitment of ten to twelve weeks. Start and end dates are flexible. Compensation is $2,100 per week.
The Fellowship is a summer position and does not guarantee an offer to return for a second summer. Strong 1L Diversity Fellows may receive offers to return for their 2L summer.
