Keller Rohrback has filed a class action lawsuit against Zillow, the online real estate giant, alleging that its anticompetitive practices illegally and unfairly extract outsized commissions from hardworking real estate agents.
The lawsuit alleges that Zillow unlawfully abused its monopoly power in the online real estate marketplace to overcharge real estate agents and coerce them into promoting Zillow’s mortgage lending services through its “Preferred” or “Premier” agent programs. The complaint claims that Zillow’s market dominance leaves agents with little practical choice but to participate in these agent programs, where Zillow imposes excessive fees and ties access to client referrals to the use of its in-house lending products.
