Courts grant final approval of $27.5 million settlement in United Airlines severance benefits litigation.

On September 1, 2026, the U.S. District Court granted final approval of a $27.5 million class action settlement in Hoffman v. United Airlines. The firm proudly served as co-counsel for the class, helping to secure both substantial cash compensation and travel benefits for the Settlement Class.

The litigation arose from allegations that United Airlines failed to honor promises made to employees who retired between August 2017 and December 2020. Plaintiffs alleged that United promised these workers that if the airline introduced superior severance programs within three years of their retirement, they would receive those upgraded benefits—a promise the company allegedly violated under ERISA and state law. The final settlement secures a $27.5 million cash fund, plus eight vacation flight passes for each class member.
