Keller Rohrback is investigating a potential design flaw that causes ice to build up in certain French door refrigerators and prevents proper cooling, leading to expensive repair bills and loss of food. Are you affected?
Refrigerator owners with French doors and the freezer located below have experienced ice or frost buildup near the evaporator coils. In these units, there is a secondary evaporator coil located behind the deli drawer. The ice buildup may become so acute that the deli drawer becomes difficult to close. Eventually, the ice buildup may cause the refrigerator to stop cooling altogether and require the intervention of a service appointment with an appliance repair person.
The ice buildup has been found across many Whirlpool, Kitchen Aid, Maytag and Jenn-Air refrigerators. The affected refrigerator models are:
