Keller Rohrback is pleased to announce that on December 22, 2025, Judge Terrence G. Berg of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan issued an order granting final approval of the $150 million class action settlement in the In re Chevrolet Bolt EV Battery Litigation and appointing Keller Rohrback co-lead counsel for the class.
The nearly five-year litigation arose from allegations that batteries installed in 2017–2022 Chevrolet Bolt EVs could overheat when charged to full or near full capacity, creating an increased risk of fire and posing serious safety risks to vehicle owners and lessees, property, and the public. The settlement provides meaningful monetary relief to consumers and takes into account the voluntary recalls rolled out by General Motors and its suppliers.
Gretchen Freeman Cappio, a partner at Keller Rohrback stated, "We are pleased that the Court has granted final approval to this impactful settlement for the benefit of Chevy Bolt owners and lessees.”
“We are pleased that the Court approved this innovative settlement, which provides substantial financial compensation to consumers that goes hand in hand with the battery replacement and software remedies. We are proud to have helped deliver this outcome to the Settlement Class,” said Ryan McDevitt, a partner at Keller Rohrback.
Congratulations to the Keller Rohrback team for their tireless work and commitment to achieving this result on behalf of the Settlement Class.
