Hard Disk Drive Suspension Assemblies Antitrust Litigation
Case Overview
On August 8, 2019, Keller Rohrback and co-counsel, Handley Farah & Anderson, filed a class action complaint against many manufacturers of hard disk drive (“HDD”) suspension assemblies alleging a conspiracy – on a global scale – to fix prices and allocate market shares. The HDD suspension assembly is a critical component for the operation and performance of electronic devices. HDD suspension assemblies are included in a vast array of devices, including computers, gaming systems, printers and photocopy machines.
In October 2019, our class action and many other similar cases were consolidated in the United States District Court for the Northern District of California and are proceeding before The Honorable Maxine M. Chesney.
On October 28, 2022, the End-User Plaintiffs’ Fourth Amended Consolidated Class Action Complaint was filed with the Court. You may review the specific allegations and the definitions of the proposed classes in the amended consolidated complaint in the Case Documents section below.
On December 12, 2023, the Court heard motions for class certification and set a schedule for further briefing. Briefing for class certification is scheduled to finish by February 6, 2024.
Plaintiffs allege that the impact of the conspiracy had a direct and substantial impact on American consumers by raising the price paid for any equipment containing HDD suspension assemblies.
