Case Update

Keller Rohrback and the leadership team in the Speerly, Harper, and Helms cases represent a proposed class of owners and lessees of 2015 – 2019 GMC, Chevrolet, and Cadillac vehicles equipped with GM's Hydra-Matic 8L90 and 8L45 eight-speed automatic transmissions. These vehicles include Cadillac Escalade, Chevrolet Corvette, Chevrolet Camaro, Chevrolet Silverado, Chevrolet Colorado, GMC Sierra, GMC Yukon Denali and GMC Canyon. Drivers have reported that defective eight-speed transmissions can cause their cars and trucks to jolt or hesitate when shifting gears, sometimes to the degree that the drivers feel like they’ve been hit by another car. This can be dangerous to drivers, passengers, and others with whom they share the road.

At this time, fact and expert discovery are ongoing. If you are experiencing issues with a vehicle equipped with one of these transmissions, Keller Rohrback suggests preserving all records and receipts related to your vehicle's maintenance and any transmission repairs.

Case Overview

Keller Rohrback filed suit against General Motors, LLC regarding Chevrolet, Cadillac, and GMC models from 2015-2019 with faulty eight-speed transmissions. Drivers have stated that defective eight-speed transmissions can cause their cars and trucks to jolt or hesitate, sometimes to the degree that the drivers feel like they’ve been hit by another car. These defective transmissions—GM’s Hydra-Matic 8L90 or 8L45—create safety hazards that are unacceptable and unreasonably dangerous to Plaintiffs, Class members, their passengers, and the other drivers and passengers with whom they share the roads.

Despite numerous service bulletins and attempts, GM has not repaired the defective transmissions or remedied the danger they pose. Owners and lessees of the affected vehicles should not be forced to continue to drive their defective vehicles or spend their own money to fix GM’s mistakes.

Keller Rohrback has a track record of success in holding car manufacturers accountable for selling vehicles that don’t live up to the promises made at the time of sale. If you or someone you know owns or leases any of the affected vehicles, please contact attorneys Gretchen Freeman Cappio or Ryan McDevitt at 866.560.4043 or via email at [email protected] to discuss our investigation and your potential claims against General Motors.
